Our Story
It all started with one young man who decided to take a career aptitude test at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. The results of the survey said that Randy enjoyed working outside and being creative. He then decided to transfer to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana because of their great Landscape Architecture program.
“All I knew about landscaping growing up was that we had two Juniper trees and one Norway Maple in our backyard.”
In 1981, New Frontiers Landscaping began as a one man operation that grew into multiple crews with power equipment, operating in two garden centers and a floral shop, providing landscape installation and maintenance for the Michiana region. After some time, Randy and his team realized their passion was in creative landscape design and installation, which is what we here at New Frontiers continue to focus on today. Our desire is to raise the standard of excellence within the world of landscaping. We hope to develop lasting relationships within the community where we live and work and we want to provide the best creative solutions and customer service in the industry. Whether you're looking to build an oasis in your backyard or make a few tweaks to your already existing landscape, we're here to help.

The Crosslock Connector is truly one of a kind. It was initially designed by our founder Randy Meert. It solves a common unsightly problem, gapping where two lengths of edging come together. The unique crosslock connector fits securely into the round bead of our edgings and allows for a seamless joint, so the connections can be virtually undetectable.

Channel Guard Edging is a multi use guard designed to be used as a downspout diverter or splash block, fence edging, or mow strip. Fill with river rock or gravel and install the Channel Guard below a gutter downspout to divert water away from the foundation. Install the Channel Guard under a fence line or along a building foundation, fill with rock and control weeds while preventing fence damage from weed eaters or lawn mowers.

While we are passionate about meeting your needs as a landscaping company, here at New Frontiers we also have a passion to give back to the local community. We enjoy serving with and donating to non-profits such as Camp Raybird, a Christian Camp Ministry devoted to serving families with lower income whose children might otherwise not have access to Christian camping experiences. We are also connected to The Main Stage Inc., a non-profit community theater organization that focuses on children and families who enjoy performing together. As we look to give our time and finances towards a better future, we especially hope to impact our local community as much as they have impacted us.
